La Famille Pòt is that pot brought to life, a digital gathering place where Haitian family, food, and culture come alive through the intimate lens of daily life in the diaspora.
Through our radio skits and video series, we invite you into the homes of Haitian families navigating the beautiful complexity of life between worlds. We capture the moments that shape us: the conversations around the dinner table where Creole and English dance together; the struggles of building new lives while honoring old traditions; the triumphs that echo through generations; and the quiet moments of cultural resilience that sustain us.
La Famille Pòt is not merely entertainment, it is cultural preservation in motion. Each episode is a tapestry woven from the authentic threads of Haitian-American experience: the parent passing down a recipe while their child translates it to younger siblings; the grandparent whose stories bridge oceans and decades; the young professional balancing American ambition with Haitian values; the family celebrating Independence Day thousands of miles from home, yet connected to the spirit of November 18, 1804.

We are committed to showing Haitian life in its full humanity, the laughter that echoes through our kitchens, the wisdom in our elders' words, the innovation in our adaptations, the artistry in our everyday expressions. Through music that moves from konpa to hip-hop, through language that flows from Creole to English and back again, through traditions that transform as they travel, we celebrate the living, breathing culture that refuses to be contained by borders or circumstances.

La Famille Pòt is a video show that you can find on Spotify or on this site, and also radio skit that you can listen to on the Souvni on the Mike Podcast or WLQY's Radio Konpa in South Florida on Fridays at 7:30 PM. It is brought to you by Souvni Productions which began not as a business, but as a response to a profound need. In 2009, founder Mandaly Louis-Charles launched the SweetCoconuts blog, creating one of the earliest digital spaces dedicated to Haitian diaspora storytelling and cultural connection at a time when Haitian voices were largely absent from online media.

When the devastating earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010, the world rushed to help, but most relief workers couldn't communicate with the people they were there to serve. Mandaly recognized this critical gap and stepped forward, becoming an emergency linguistic and cultural bridge, teaching Haitian Creole to medical teams, humanitarian workers, and NGOs on the ground. This urgent, high-stakes work would shape the enterprise's future direction.

Her expertise during this crisis caught the attention of the academic community, leading to a groundbreaking collaboration with MIT Professor Michel DeGraff, founding member of the Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen (Haitian Creole Academy). Together, they co-created "Chante Alfabè Kreyòl La", the first Haitian Creole alphabet song, a foundational tool for Haitian Creole literacy that positioned Mandaly at the intersection of community advocacy and academic scholarship.
Over 15 years later, that single blog has evolved into a multi-platform cultural education enterprise that serves the growing Haitian diaspora through three interconnected platforms:

SOUVNI ON THE MIKE – A radio show and podcast amplifying Haitian voices and stories
LaFamillePot.com – A cultural video show celebrating Haitian family, food, and community
Our name "Souvni" means "memory" or "remembrance" in Haitian Creole, a constant reminder of our purpose: helping learners remember, recover, and reclaim their linguistic and cultural heritage.
Today, we serve a diverse audience that includes:

We believe that language is identity. Haitian Creole, spoken by approximately 12 million people worldwide, is not merely a communication tool; it's the living vessel of Haitian history, resistance, creativity, and communal life. Through accessible education, authentic storytelling, and professional services, we ensure that Haitian Creole and Haitian culture remain vibrant, respected, and transmissible across generations and borders.
